Quote builder

Rim-Lock, a manufacturer supplying mining operations, produced quotes by hand from a PDF spec form and a spreadsheet template.

Customers now configure and price their own order in a guided five-step wizard. Staff review exceptions in an admin dashboard and a branded PDF quote is issued automatically, so quote volume can grow without adding admin. A quote that took at least 30 minutes by hand now takes under a minute.

Walkthrough of the Rim-Lock quote builder: from the homepage through five steps to a priced quote and its PDF (2× speed)

The problem

Rim-Lock supplies wheel-rim locks to mining operations. Every quote began as a PDF spec form and was then retyped into a spreadsheet template by hand. Each one took at least 30 minutes, so response time depended on how many staff were free.

What I built

  • A five-step quote wizard that guides the customer through their details, their fleet, the specifications, the product and the final quotation.
  • Pricing that comes from the product catalogue, so the number on the quote is the number on the price list.
  • An admin dashboard where staff review the quotes that need a human look, instead of retyping every one.
  • A branded PDF quote generated automatically and sent to the customer.

The outcome

A quote that took at least 30 minutes by hand is now turned around in under a minute. Quote volume can grow without adding admin staff.
